NUBS Academic bags World Education Congress "Outstanding Contribution to Education" Award
Associate Professor Dr Nafis Alam was conferred an Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education at the recent
World Education Congress (WEC) held at Mumbai, India on 14 November 2014. The award was presented to Dr
Alam in recognition of his exemplary role in his contributions to Islamic finance education in the areas of leadership,
innovation, and interface between academia and industry.
The WEC focuses on the evolving culture of education and educational pedagogy, with the objective of deep systemic change as well as providing a platform for discussion on effective learning strategies for institutions of higher education. The WEC presents awards to institutions and individuals in the higher education sector who have achieved high levels
of excellence and who provides exemplary leadership and a role model.

Dr Alam shared the award this year with Datin Professor Ir Dr Siti Hamisah Bt Tapsir, Deputy Director General, Private Higher Education Management Sector, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. Previous recipients include various distinguished personalities who have contributed in diverse areas, from a wide range of education institutions in Asia, US, Europe and Australia.
