The ICIFE, a global body for professional certification and accreditation for Islamic Finance education, was established under the Malaysian Economic Transformation Programme in an Entry Point Project co-led by Bank Negara Malaysia (the Central Bank of Malaysia) on the industry front, and the International Islamic 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Malaysia on academic development, together with Universiti Utara Malaysia and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. In line with the country's aspiration to become a global hub and leading centre for Islamic Finance education, the Council's main objective is to increase and maintain the professionalism of educators in Islamic Finance at national and international levels.

UNMC joins a host of regulators, accrediting bodies, and education and commercial institutions affiliated with the ICIFE, including Bank Negara Malaysia (the Central Bank of Malaysia), the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), the International Shari'ah 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Maybank Islamic Berhad, CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad and Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad.
