We are seeking applications from qualified candidates for the Faculty Manager position within the the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS), 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM).

The Faculty Manager plays a pivotal role in providing strategic and management support for the Faculty Dean with a particular responsibility for the administrative effectiveness of the faculty. This role will liaise closely with and advise the Faculty Dean and the Faculty Management Board members (consisting of Associate Deans and Heads of School and Department) with regards to mainly, but not limited to the administrative, financial, and human resources functions to support the development, coordination, and delivery of the Faculty’s Strategic Plan.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Faculty Strategic Planning, Management and Administration - Coordinate the Faculty Strategic Plan which involves the preparation of a range of analytical and informative documents, ensuring appropriate internal and external consultations have taken place within the faculty.
  • Financial Management - Oversee and manage the faculty and schools’ budgets, including planning, monitoring, and reporting on income and expenditures. Provide financial analysis and strategic advice, ensure compliance with financial procedures, and collaborate with the Faculty Dean, Heads of School, and finance department to address any budgetary concerns
  • People Management - Manage faculty office administration, including recruitment, staff development, and performance management. Ensure efficient resource deployment, implement best practices, provide guidance on staff management, uphold Equal Opportunity and health & safety standards, and foster a motivated, high-performing team culture that encourages continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration and Communication - Responsible for internal and external communication, advising the Dean on staff/student matters, managing the faculty's physical and IT infrastructure, and coordinating 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@-wide initiatives.
  • Supporting ADC within the faculty to encourage open communication that provides honest and multi-directional feedback, resulting in driven collaboration across the faculty..
  • Support any other duties that may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the faculty. These additional assignments will be thoughtfully provided as opportunities to grow and expand the skill set, taking on new challenges/projects that align with the expertise and contribute to the overall success of UNM.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in any field, with significant hands-on experience in a similar or related role or proven track record of extensive relevant work experience, demonstrating deep and broad knowledge of the area gained through progressively more complex roles.
  • Experience working with senior management as a senior administrator, or management role, in a diverse and challenging environment. Experience in the higher education sector is preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with senior members of staff.
  • Experience in managing a team in a complex environment.
  • Experience in handling difficult, confidential, and sensitive situations, dealing with them with a high degree of integrity and discretion.
  • Knowledge in managing and planning academic processes and administration.
  • Knowledge of British and/or tertiary education system and processes.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills – the ability to manage a complex budget; research, gather, and process data and information; analyse and interpret results; and determine appropriate action.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and results, and communicate the information effectively, experienced in using financial systems.
  • Proven communication skills with an excellent level of written and spoken English, and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels in an organisation.
  • Highly relational, able to build collaborative working relationships with colleagues from across the organisation.
  • Articulate, confident, persuasive, tactful,diplomatic.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to make decisions and think creatively.
  • Excellent leadership skills and proven track record of enabling high performing teams.
