My research focuses on how human behaviour and cognition adapt in response to rapidly changing technological and environmental conditions. I work across several interconnected areas, including generative artificial intelligence in higher education and industry, virtual reality as a tool for investigating higher-order psychological constructs, and the broader behavioural and societal implications of emerging technologies.

The core focus of my research group is understanding how generative AI is reshaping learning processes, academic identity, and pedagogical practice in higher education. Our lab uses mixed-method research designs including quantitative modelling, qualitative interviews, and behavioural task analysis. We examine how students engage with AI and how academic staff adapt their teaching, assessment, and beliefs about integrity in response to these changes. This work is funded by the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia's Large-Scale Teaching & Learning Innovation Grant and conducted in collaboration with colleagues across education, psychology, and computer science in Malaysia and the UK. Alongside the higher education focus, my research also examines how generative AI is shaping decision-making, leadership practice, and organisational culture in industry settings. This line of investigation explores emerging questions around how individuals and organisations navigate trust, accountability, and capability-building as AI becomes embedded in everyday workflows. I am working in collaboration with Mustapha BenKalfate, an industry specialist in AI, to investigate these questions in both local and global contexts.

A third strand of my work focuses on the use of virtual reality to study higher-order psychological constructs such as embodiment, and psychological ownership. I collaborate with colleagues in human-computer interaction, design, and cognitive psychology to develop VR-based experimental environments. Current work includes co-designing a pseudo-realistic oil palm plantation environment to examine emotional engagement, narrative immersion, and environmental attitudes.
