Thirty years after getting a civil engineering degree and a masters in science, Mudajaya Group Berhad CEO and MD Ir James Wong Tet Foh sat for his Master of Business Administration MBA (Finance) in Nottingham 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ Business School (NUBS) Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) Business School.
That intervening three decades was a journey from being an engineer to being a corporate man leader running a top engineering, property development, renewable power and manufacturing conglomerate that spans a few countries in Asia.
In that time, he was worked on some notable projects including Malaysia’s North South Interurban Expressway by PLUS, Malaysia’s second Light Transit Project 2 in Kuala Lumpur; four road projects in India; a premier 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ Complex in Doha and the Salwa Expressway from Abu Samra, Saudi Arabia to Doha, Qatar; six tolled expressways in India; and projects at Malaysian state oil firm Petronas Pengerang RAPID that include a 1200 MW COGEN power plant.
Other projects under the belt of the 64-year-old Ir Wong include warehouses and data centre; 1440 MW Power Plant in Chhattisgarh India; the MRT Line 1 & 2 Project Klang Valley and LRT3 Project Selangor and 50MW Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plants.
Ir James Wong. who has been the Mudajaya executive chairman since April 2024, has credited his success to experience in various business organisations covering different continents, and facilitating a sizeable stakeholder network to grow from all levels covering government agencies to business owners.
“I was fortunate to be exposed to the supply chain network in the business sectors of construction, property development, manufacturing and power generation,” he said.
He noted that his past and present career also call for close interaction with financial institutions and other capital markets for capital raising purposes such as Islamic financing instruments e.g. sukuk and other corporate financing instruments.
“In recent times, the growing attention focus emphasising the importance ofon ESG in the sectors my that the current company operates in has that I am associated with, also afforded me the opportunity to lead the company in understandingefforts in recognising the importance of managing our ESG impacts and integrating sustainability practices across its operations, creating value for its the business and its stakeholders.”
He said the ESG performance was further enhanced by establishing a Climate Change Policy that outlines strategies for integrating climate actions into the business operations.
“In addition to ESG, I was also fortunate to be a proponent of the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) under ISO 37001 which my current company successfully acquired the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) in 2020.”
