In this section, you will find additional information on applying for a Malaysian Pass for several unique circumstances:
Students holding a Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) dependant pass are not permitted to study in Malaysia under this visa category. You are required to obtain a Student Pass before the commencement of your course.
MM2H dependant pass holders are eligible to apply for a Student Pass from within Malaysia
Students are not permitted to hold more than one active Student Pass at any given time. A Student Pass is valid only for the specific course and institution it was issued for. If you are transferring to UNM from another institution in Malaysia, you must shorten or cancel your current Student Pass before your UNM visa application can be processed.
If your current Student Pass is valid beyond your UNM course registration date, you may be allowed to remain in Malaysia during the transfer and visa processing. However, this is not guaranteed and is subject to Immigration discretion.
All progressing students (e.g. moving from Foundation to Undergraduate, or Bachelor's to Master's) are required to apply for a new VAL. This process must be completed before your current Student Pass expires.
Submit your eVAL application documents to the Visa Office 3 months before your current Student Pass expires.
Once your final results are released (usually in July), your Faculty will automatically progress you.
The Admissions Office will issue:
A Conditional Offer – if you have resits
An Unconditional Offer – if you pass all modules
Your eVAL will only be issued once you receive an Unconditional Offer.
You must apply in advance to your desired Master’s programme to receive an offer letter. 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ the Enquiry Centre for application steps and deadlines.

Students are NOT allowed to apply for the SEV (Single Entry Visa) or enter Malaysia with a Conditional Offer Letter. If you attempt to do so, you risk being denied entry and sent home by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Exemption from Student Pass may apply only if you obtain an endorsement from the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) at the Immigration Department, Putrajaya. This endorsement must be stamped in your passport, allowing you to engage in part-time ONLY studies at UNM. The application must be submitted through your employer to the ESD. Please note that without this endorsement, you are not permitted to register as a student.
If your Employment Pass or the permission to study endosrment is not renewed, you must switch to full-time study status to continue your studies. This will then require you to apply for Student Pass like all international students.
Students who hold a valid Diplomat Pass in Malaysia may be eligible to study part-time and may be exempted from applying for a Student Pass. However, this exemption is subject to strict conditions and formal approval.
You must obtain an official endorsement from Wisma Putra (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in Putrajaya, allowing you to pursue part-time studies. This endorsement must be stamped in your passport. The application for endorsement must be submitted via your Embassy or High Commission based in Kuala Lumpur. Without this endorsement, you will not be allowed to register for your programme.
If your Diplomat Pass or the permission to study endosrment is not renewed, you must switch to full-time study status to continue your studies. This will then require you to apply for Student Pass like all international students.
If your Student Pass (Visa) has expired and you have not renewed it, you must immediately visit the Visa Office for consultation to avoid further immigration complications. Overstaying in Malay is a serious offence punishable with a fine not exceeding RM 10,000, or a jailterm not exceeding 5 years, or both; and be liable to whipping of not more than 6 strokes.
Only postgraduate students are eligible to apply for Dependant Passes for their spouse, children, or parents.
Dependant Pass applications can only begin after:
The student has received the physical Student Pass sticker in their passport, and
The post-arrival medical examination has been cleared.
Dependants are NOT allowed to enter Malaysia using the student’s Visa Approval Letter (VAL).
Students cannot apply for dependant passes during the VAL stage or bring dependants with them upon arrival.
Each dependant must have a passport valid for more than 18 months from the date of pass issuance. The required documents include:
1. Proof of relationship (e.g. marriage/birth certificate, embassy confirmation letter)
2. Life insurance coverage (valid for 12 months)
